My father and I hiked 33 miles in the North Cascade mountains to find and retrieve this piece.  Forest rangers had relayed reports of its location to us, but reports varied.  We pushed on, and saw some phenomenal country while searching.  My inspiration for this picture was a book called Bones written by a curator at the Museum of Natural History, which highlights the incredible natural sculpture of bone.  The above image was taken in morning sunlight on the back of my hammer dulcimer.
